Smoothie, eyelid step light, 316 stainless steel, GU10, mains 240v, IP65
The Smoothie E8112 is a stylish Mains 240v recessed light with eyelid constructed from 316 marine grade stainless steel and is rated as IP65. Great for illuminating steps or patios and for use with GU10 low energy LED lamps. The Smoothie is fitted with a frosted lens as standard to diffuse the lighting and the eyelid hood hides the lamp from above when walking past. The light is located by an ‘O’ ring on the body into a sleeve tube so that no external screw fixings are visible. Remember that recessed step-lights are in effect recessed spotlights – avoid using them facing viewpoints.

The plastic sleeve is built into the wall during construction or retrofitted into a hole cut with a coring Using a single RCD for large numbers of 240v fittings is not recommended due to the risk of nuisance tripping. We advise the use of separate RCD protection for each circuit and a maximum of 12 fittings per RCD. Where a garden lighting installation of more than 12 spike mount or recessed lights per circuit is proposed, we suggest the installation of 12v units with transformers, which results in a significantly higher fault tolerance and reliability in the total installation |
Installation
The plastic sleeve is built into the wall during construction or retrofitted into a hole cut with a coring bit: the light
pushes into the tube, where it is held firmly in place by an o-ring, leaving a front plate with no visible fixing screws.
Recess depth 120mm Smoothies should not be installed in ground subject to water logging, an IP68 light should be considered.
