QuadMarka – 12v Plug & Play 316 Stainless Steel MR16 IP67 Recessed Light 4 Windows 360 Degree Of Light
The Quadmarka is a contemporary and elegant recessed light suitable for illuminating steps and outlining other areas in
the garden, mounted in the ground, walls or decking. It is made from high quality, marine grade 316 stainless steel,
which has an even greater resistance to pitting corrosion / rusting than other lower grade steel.
This fitting is available in Brass and Copper too in both 12v and 240v along with the 240v version in Stainless Steel.
This VERSA plug & play 12v recessed light couldn’t be simpler to install. The 3m cable supplied is capped with a
2 pin plug which simply plugs directly into a transformer (or splitter if multiple fittings are installed), the transformer
plugs into a mains socket and it is ready to go.
Please note: This fitting must be installed with the mounting sleeve and additional rubber seal. If the sleeving and seal is not used, the Guarantee will be void. Not for use in areas prone to water-logging or flooding.
The robust black plastic sleeve will be built into the wall during construction or retrofitted into a drilled out hole.
The main part of the light then pushes into the tube, where it is held firmly in place by internal gripping ‘teeth’
(see detailed image), leaving only the streamline front dome on show.
CARE OF STAINLESS STEEL – TIPS
Contrary to popular belief, Stainless steel needs looking after; especially in exposed and coastal areas. If not cleaning
on a regular basis, the acid that is ever present in the air ( and salt in coastal areas) will affect the surface
causing pitting and even rust like staining (known as ‘Tea staining’ ) to appear.
To keep your lights looking good, simply wipe clean the outside with a damp cloth and then dry once a month, (more frequently
in coastal areas). Specialist stainless steel cleaning products can be used (We recommend and stock ‘Kilrock stainless
steel cleaner’) but never use an ABRASIVE cleaner. In extreme conditions we recommend applying 2 coats of Clear lacquer
to protect the steel surface. (We recommend and stock ‘Simoniz’ clear lacquer).
Installation 12v
Choosing the style of a product is only part of the equation you must also think of where that product will be used and how
it will be installed. All exterior lighting products on our web site have an IP rating appropriate to each light fitting
and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the
products supplied are only as good as the installation. The weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be
made 100% watertight and this can be done using IP68 cable connectors and/or waterproof junction boxes which are then
filled with a re-enterable liquid gel mix. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and
reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in place especially
in clay-based soil areas. If possible, use ground surface spike lights rather than a buried light. Care must be
taken with the cable runs and not to install transformers more than 30 metres away from the furthest fitting to avoid
any voltage drop. Cabling should be 2 core Rubber HO5RN-F or HO7RN-F and not PVC. PVC leads to capillary action over
time especially with UV degradation. Always check the correct type of transformer you need for your fittings. We recommend
wiring in parallel with Toroidal AC and LED DC drivers. But when using Milliamp mA LED drivers, they should always be
wired in series. Plug and Play kits are simply a case of daisy chaining the fittings via plug and play junction boxes,
connectors and extension cables using a 2-pin plug arrangement. These Plug and Play fittings should only be used for
small domestic projects due to voltage drop over 5 metres.
All exterior lights must be installed by a certified NIC EIC electrician and should be signed off by an electrician with
Part P certification. There are a selection of waterproof jointing kits and boxes available on this web site.
