The Pillar Round IP67 buried uplight has a hard wearing stainless steel construction and glass diffuser, it is built to last and is tough
enough to be suitable for walkover only. 304 stainless steel is advised for properties outside 20 km of a coast line, a 316 marine
grade stainless steel would be required if within 20 km of the coast.

A budget fitting but very popular and good value for money.

Can be used as a marker light on a pathway or as an up-lighter in decking areas close to the property and shrubs and small trees when using high lumen output LED GU10 light bulbs in excess of 500 lumens.

LED lamps are available and will create a subtle beam of good illumination to the area you wish to uplight.  LED
lamps have a long life, use minimal electricity and are cool to touch, making them safe around children.

Choosing the style of a product is only part of the equation you must also think of where that product will be used and how
it will be installed. All exterior lighting products on our web site have an IP rating appropriate to each light fitting
and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the
products supplied are only as good as the installation. The weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be
made 100% watertight and this can be done using IP68 cable connectors and/or waterproof junction boxes which are then
filled with a re-enterable liquid gel mix. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and
reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in place especially
in clay-based soil areas. If possible, use ground surface spike lights rather than a buried light.  Mains 240v cable
will have less joints than a low voltage installation but care must be taken with the cable runs. Cabling should be Rubber
Butyl and not PVC. PVC leads to capillary action over time especially with UV degradation.

All exterior lights must be installed by a certified NIC EIC electrician and should be signed off by an electrician with

Using a single RCD for large numbers of 240v fittings is not recommended due to the risk of nuisance tripping. We advise the use of separate RCD protection for each circuit and a maximum of 12 fittings per RCD. Always put outdoor lighting on it’s own RCD. Where a garden lighting installation of more than 12 spike mount or recessed lights per circuit is proposed, we suggest the installation of 12v units with transformers, which results in a significantly higher fault tolerance and reliability in the total installation.
