Olympus 70 – 240v Metal Halide 316 Stainless Steel Bezel & Aluminium Body IP67 Recessed Light – Uses 70w CDMT Lamps
efficiency for up lighting trees from lawns or paving. Olympus provides a powerful
36 degree up lighting beam, using a single-ended metal halide lamp, while maintaining
a typical top lens temperature of under 70 degrees Celsius. So Olympus can be used even
in walkover areas to up light trees with an open canopy and branch structure from
directly below. The lamp and reflector assembly is mounted on an adjustable cradle
so the beam can be tilted up to 20 degrees from vertical to achieve the desired
effect. The dark grey non-reflective interior means less light
refraction through the lens to give away its position in the landscape. Olympus has an upper compartment with a separate top lens insulated by
an inner second lens from heat generated in the lower compartment which
houses the lamp and control gear. Olympus has a 316 stainless steel lens
rim, a cast aluminium body and a polymer sleeve for recessing into the
ground. A sandblasted brass top ring is available for discrete
installation in paving, especially in heritage projects where stainless
steel may look too modern, green and black tops are also available. An
8mm thick black honeycomb glare louvre (E9500L) is also available as an
accessory: this fits inside the top compartment over the lower lens to
limit visibility of the light source in traffic or pedestrian areas. To
facilitate removal of screws for future re-lamping or other maintenance,
apply copper grease to the threads of all screws being fitted for
retention of bezels, grills or other top plates or retaining rings.
Copper grease resists degradation due to heat and protects against
difficulty in removing screws, particularly where stainless steel screws
are fitted with aluminium parts. It may also be used on screw threads
of screw-off bezels or glare shields. Ensure surplus is cleaned off with
a solvent to prevent staining in use.
Installation advice
This direct burial in the ground fitting is pre-wired with rubber cable and 20mm IP68 gland for
connection to mains supply via a separate underground joint kit (order T9969 separately).
You will need to provide 300mm depth of shingle drainage below the uplight: do not use in waterlogged
ground.
All recessed luminaries must have adequate drainage beneath each fitting to allow
water to disperse, especially in clay based soil beds. All cable joints must be 100%
watertight and there are a number or waterproof junction boxes on our web site to choose from.
recommended for purple/red/yellow/green foliage trees and combines long
lamp life and colour stability. CDMT70 4000k lamp gives a cooler
lighting effect suitable for trees with blue/grey foliage such as some
pines & cedars. Order lamps separately.
