Nautilus Spike XL, Black, Ground Spike Light, Mains 240v GU10, IP65
The high quality powder coated exterior body provides added durability to this IP65
outdoor garden spike light. Cable supplied should be installed above ground or put into waterproof tubing. Â If received with 2 pin plug that can be removed or we can supply a 3 pin plug.
Ground spike lights are the most popular and flexible light fittings we sell and
can be used for numerous areas to illuminate small trees and shrubs as well as garden
ornaments and water features. The spike can also be removed and the attached
bracket can be used to wall mount the spot light which can be directed at an eating
area or BBQ. You could fix them on the underside of the top of a pergola and send a pencil beam
of light down to the floor to illuminate the pathway below or back light a bench
area, the possibilities are endless and they are a very easy and cost effective solution
to illuminate an outdoor space.
This fitting should be used with ECO friendly LED GU10 lamps.
LED lamps offer energy savings over the traditional halogen GU10 lamps and are also
cool to touch and safe around children. Warm white and cool white are available and
the cool white works well when illuminating shrubs and trees whereas the warm white
works better on brickwork and wood.
Lamp Colour (Kelvins)
2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 5,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white
spectrum.
Installation 220 – 240v – See Instructions & Data Sheets Tab=”center”>
All exterior lighting products on our website have an IP rating which is explained further in our Technical
Help/Products section but in simple terms the IP rating is appropriate to each light fitting and its intended
application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the products
supplied are only as good as the installation as the weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be
made 100% water tight and this can be done using IP68 inline connectors, waterproof junction boxes which are
then filled with a resin or gel mix. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and
reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in place especially in clay based soil areas.Â
All exterior lights must be installed by a certified NIC EIC electrician and should be signed off by an electrician
with Part P certification. There are a selection of waterproof jointing kits and boxes available on this
web site.
