Compact spike – 12v Rustic brown IP65
The Elipta Compact Spike Spot is an excellent outdoor ground spike spotlight and is fully adjustable, typically used for garden
lighting tasks such as lighting garden features, up lighting small trees with 36° beam LED lamp or shrub border lighting
using a 60° lamp. Choose a 3w or 5w warm white LED lamp to uplight pergola columns to completely change the ambience of your
garden at night. By fitting LED lamps these outdoor spotlights become very cost efficient to run and are ideal for up lighting
newly planted borders or individual feature plants.
Elipta spike spotlights have a flush glass lens to prevent water accumulation, and a longer body to shield the lamp from
view. The spike spots can accommodate a wide range of LED lamps with varying beam angles, louvres, frosted lens and dichroic
coloured filters.
Available in 12v and 240v and 4 finishes, Rustic Brown, Black, Copper and Stainless Steel.
Buy a few spare lamps to have some handy when you need a replacement, or buy a few different wattages, colour filters and
beam angles to experiment with creative garden lighting effects.
The spotlight body is made from solid metal tube and is mounted on an adjustable knuckle joint and 25cm round rod mounting
spike. Unscrewing the front bezel makes it easy to change the lamp without tools.
Ideal to spot light items of interest in the garden like small shrubs, ornaments, trees and pathways. Can be used on the
wall without the spike to illuminate a garden patio area or BBQ.
The exterior dimensions are 103mm x 63mm not including 250mm spike.
Beam distribution 15 degrees to 110 degrees.
Maximum length of LED bulb to use must not exceed 72mm including the pins.
Lamp Colour (Kelvins)
The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins
which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 5,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum.
12v Installation – See Instructions & Data Sheets Tab
Choosing the style of a product is only part of the equation you must also think of where that product will be used and
how it will be installed. All exterior lighting products on our web site have an IP rating appropriate to each light
fitting and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting
and the products supplied are only as good as the installation. The weakest point is always cable joints. All joints
must be made 100% watertight and this can be done using IP68 cable connectors and/or waterproof junction boxes which
are then filled with a re-enterable liquid gel mix. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy
access and reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in
place especially in clay-based soil areas. If possible, use ground surface spike lights rather than a buried light.
Care must be taken with the cable runs and not to install transformers more than 30 metres away from the furthest
fitting to avoid any voltage drop. Cabling should be 2 core Rubber HO5RN-F or HO7RN-F and not PVC. PVC leads to capillary
action over time especially with UV degradation. Always check the correct type of transformer you need for your fittings.
We recommend wiring in parallel with Toroidal AC and LED DC drivers. But when using Milliamp mA LED drivers, they
should always be wired in series. Plug and Play kits are simply a case of daisy chaining the fittings via plug and
play junction boxes, connectors and extension cables using a 2-pin plug arrangement.
All exterior lights must be installed by a certified NIC EIC electrician and should be signed off by an electrician with
Part P certification. There are a selection of waterproof jointing kits and boxes available on this web site.
