Charleston – Brass IP54 12v G4 Max Wattage 20w Surface Or Spike Mounted Spreadlight – Plug & Play
This traditional brass 12v plug & play garden Spread light has an elegant rustic bronze finish and is ideal for lighting
edging, pathways and flower beds in the garden. The light emitted is ‘spread’ downwards in a pool of light with no ‘upwards’
light pollution. Due to the wide angle of the large shade, the light emitted is spread over approx. 100º. The underside
of the shade has a white powder coated finish which greatly enhances and reflects the light downwards and outwards. Height 645mm.
This VERSA plug & play 12v path light couldn’t be simpler to install. The 4.5m cable supplied is capped with a 2 pin
plug which simply plugs directly into a transformer (or splitter if multiple fittings are installed), the transformer
plugs into a mains socket and it is ready to go.
This large brass spread light design is supplied complete with a large, 4 fin polycarbonate ground spike with anchor, for
easy and extra stable mounting into soft ground. The low voltage G4 LEDs are the ideal replacement
for 12v halogen G4 lamps, lasting longer and reducing the amount of energy consumed. The lamp is housed in a clear, protective
diffuser which the shade simply screws onto.
Charleston Modular Mounting
Charleston spot lights and spread lights use the same size thread stem (0.75 inches) which makes them extremely versatile
when considering mounting options. The Charleston Brass surface mount converts the spread light for surface mounting areas and can be mounted on most flat surfaces.
12v Installation
Choosing the style of a product is only part of the equation you must also think of where that product will be used and how
it will be installed. All exterior lighting products on our web site have an IP rating appropriate to each light fitting
and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the
products supplied are only as good as the installation. The weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be
made 100% watertight and this can be done using IP68 cable connectors and/or waterproof junction boxes which are then
filled with a re-enterable liquid gel mix. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and
reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in place especially
in clay-based soil areas. If possible, use ground surface spike lights rather than a buried light. Care must be
taken with the cable runs and not to install transformers more than 30 metres away from the furthest fitting to avoid
any voltage drop. Cabling should be 2 core Rubber HO5RN-F or HO7RN-F and not PVC. PVC leads to capillary action over
time especially with UV degradation. Always check the correct type of transformer you need for your fittings. We recommend
wiring in parallel with Toroidal AC and LED DC drivers. But when using Milliamp mA LED drivers, they should always be
wired in series. Plug and Play kits are simply a case of daisy chaining the fittings via plug and play junction boxes,
connectors and extension cables using a 2-pin plug arrangement. These Plug and Play fittings should only be used for
small domestic projects due to voltage drop over 5 metres.
